Decide on the style of sports headband you want to make.

There are many different styles of sports headbands on the market, from those that simply keep sweat out of your eyes to those that also provide ear protection. Some headbands are made specifically for certain sports, such as running or basketball, while others can be used for any type of physical activity. Consider what kind of headband you want to make before you get started.

Choose the fabrics you will use.

You can make a basic sports headband out of any kind of fabric. If you want a more absorbent headband to help keep sweat out of your eyes, look for fabrics that are marketed as being absorbent, such as “sweat-wicking” fabrics. Polyester fabrics are good choices for absorbent headbands.

You can also make a more decorative headband by using two different kinds of fabric. For example, you could use a stretchy polyester fabric for the main part of the headband, and then add a strip of ribbon or lace around the edge.

Cut the fabric to the desired size.

Cut the fabric to the desired size. For a headband that is about an inch wide, you will need a strip of fabric that is about 22 inches long. If you want a wider headband, cut the strip of fabric accordingly. Once you have cut the fabric, fold it in half lengthwise and sew the two long sides together with a sewing machine or by hand.

Sew the fabric together.

Before you start, you will need to gather the following supplies:
-1/4 yard of fabric (You can use any type of fabric, but cotton works best)
-A sewing machine
-Thread
-Scissors

Start by cutting two strips of fabric that are each 21 inches long and 2.5 inches wide. Then, sew the two strips of fabric together along the long sides using a sewing machine and thread. Once the strips are sewn together, fold the tube of fabric in half so that the raw edges are touching and press it flat with an iron. Next, sew a seam along the raw edge to create a finished look. Finally, cut any excess thread and turn the headband right side out.

Attach Velcro to the ends of the headband.

Attach Velcro to the ends of the headband. This will be used to secure the headband in place on your head. You can find velcro at most craft stores.

Try on the headband and make any adjustments.

Before you start, it’s a good idea to know the average head circumference. You can find this by wrapping a measuring tape around your head just above your ears. The average head circumference is 22 inches (55.88 centimeters).

Now that you know the average head size, you can adjust the pattern before you cut out the fabric. To make the pattern bigger or smaller, simply adjust the width of the strips. If you want to make a smaller headband, make the width 1 inch (2.54 centimeters) smaller than what is listed in the instructions. For a larger headband, make it 1 inch (2.54 centimeters) wider.[1]

Once you have adjusted the pattern, cut out two strips of fabric that are 3 inches (7.62 centimeters) wide and 22 inches (55.88 centimeters) long.
