Sports games have always been a popular genre, with titles like Madden and NBA 2K being some of the most popular. However, these games are typically not free to play, which means that players who can’t afford to buy in have to rely on ads or in-game currency purchases. Playcvs is an open source alternative that allows users to play sports games for free without relying on either option.
Playcvs Sports is a high school esports tournament. It’s open to all students in the United States and Canada who are currently in grades 9-12. The games are played on PCs, not consoles.

PlayVS is a high school esports league that was founded in 2018. The company partners with game publishers and platforms to offer organized, competitive gaming opportunities for high school students across the United States.
PlayVS has been growing rapidly since its launch. In 2019, the company partnered with Epic Games to bring Fortnite competitions to high schools through its platform. This marked the first time that a major game publisher had partnered with an esports organization to offer organized play at the high school level.
The company has also partnered with colleges and universities to offer esports programs through its platform. In 2020, PlayVS launched its college division, which includes over 60 schools across the country.
The company’s growth has been fueled by investment from some of the biggest names in the tech industry. In 2019, PlayVS raised $50 million in Series C funding led by NEA, with participation from Silver Lake Partners, Google Ventures, and others.

PlayVS’ Esports Leagues
High School Esports League:
The High School Esports League (HSEL) is a national esports league that was founded in 2013. The league is open to any high school in the United States and Canada.
The HSEL has two seasons, Fall and Spring, each consisting of eight weeks of regular season play, followed by a single-elimination playoff tournament.
In order to participate in the HSEL, schools must sign up for a free account on PlayVS.com and then register their team for the desired season.
Once registered, teams will be placed into one of three divisions (Platinum, Gold or Silver) based on their skill level.
Each week, teams will be matched up against another team in their division and will play a best-of-three match using the game mode selected for that particular season.

PlayVS’ Rulebook
High school esports league? You bet. PlayVS is the leading platform for high school and college esports, with over 500,000 registered users. We partner with the biggest names in gaming to bring you the best experience possible.
What’s included in a typical match? Well, first of all, you’ll need to be a part of an officially recognized team. Once you’ve done that, you’ll log into PlayVS and join your teammates in queueing up for a match. The game will start when all 10 players are ready.
Each match consists of two halves, each lasting 20 minutes. The first half is played on one map, and the second half is played on another map selected by the losing team from the first half. The objective of the game is to capture or defend objectives, depending on which mode you’re playing.
If you’re playing Capture the Flag, for example, your goal will be to steal the enemy flag and return it to your base. If you’re playing Control Point, your goal will be to capture and hold as many control points as possible. There are also other modes like King of the Hill and Payload, but those are the basics.
Once a team has won enough rounds (usually 16), they win the match and move on in whichever tournament they’re playing in. That’s pretty much it! If you have any questions about how PlayVS works or what our rules are, feel free to check out our FAQ or contact us directly.

PlayVS’ College Partnerships
PlayVS is always looking to expand its reach and impact in the world of esports, and one way we do that is through our partnerships with colleges and universities. We’ve partnered with schools like UC Irvine, UC Berkeley, USC, and more to offer their students the chance to compete in official collegiate esports leagues. These partnerships are important to us because they provide opportunities for student-athletes to compete at the highest level while also getting a taste of what it’s like to be a professional esports player. Plus, it helps promote college gaming programs and gets more people interested in playing competitive video games.
The PlayVS Rulebook:
Our rulebook is designed to ensure that all players have a fair and fun experience while competing in our leagues. We want everyone to feel like they have a chance to win, regardless of their skill level or experience. To that end, we’ve put together a comprehensive set of rules that cover everything from game settings and match procedures to player conduct and code of ethics. We’re constantly updating and refining our ruleset as new games are released and new issues arise, so please check back often for the latest version.
PlayVS’ Fortnite Tournament
High school esports league PlayVS has announced a Fortnite tournament open to all US high school students. The tournament will run from April 27th to May 3rd, with registration opening on March 30th.
The event will be hosted on the PlayVS platform, which is used by high school and college esports leagues across the country. To compete, players will need to create a PlayVS account and link it to their Epic Games account. Once registered, players will be placed in one of four divisions based on their skill level:
Division I: For the top 1% of players in the PlayVS platform
Division II: For skilled players who are looking for more competitive games
Division III: For recreational players who want to play for fun
Division IV: For beginners who are just starting out in the game.
Players will then be matched up against other players in their division in a best-of-three format. The top 32 players from each division will advance to a single-elimination bracket, where they will compete for prizes including an exclusive PlayVS Fortnite skin.
This isn’t the first time that PlayVS has hosted a Fortnite tournament – last year, they ran a similar event called “Last Squad Standing” which was open to high school and college students across the country. This year’s tournament is open to any US high school student, regardless of whether they’re part of a school-sponsored esports team or not.
PlayVS is a startup that provides infrastructure and software for high school and college esports programs across the United States. Their platform is used by over 2,000 schools and 500,000+ students nationwide.
